This policy explains what information Stock Smith collects, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Stock Smith website (the "Service").
Who We Are
Stock Smith ("we," "us," or "our") operates an AI-assisted stock research platform that provides Monte Carlo price projections, AI trade analysis, an "Ask the AI" assistant, a personal watchlist, and autonomous trading bots. We are a research and educational tool, not a registered broker-dealer or investment adviser. We are the controller of the personal information described here. Contact us at privacy@stocksmith.ai.
Information We Collect
- Account information — your email address and a password, handled by our authentication provider Clerk. We never see or store your raw password.
- Subscription & payment information — processed by Square, which stores your card details directly. We receive only your subscription status (the Ad-Free membership), matched by email.
- Analysis & AI query content — the stock context and questions you submit are sent to OpenAI to generate responses. We store your personal watchlist so it persists across sessions.
- Voice input (microphone) — used only while you actively record a question; the audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription and is not retained after transcription. Read-aloud uses your device's built-in text-to-speech.
- Brokerage credentials (real-money Auto Trader) — if you connect the optional Auto Trader, your WeBull App Key and Secret are encrypted at rest with AES-256 and used only to trade on your own account. You can disconnect at any time.
- Cookies, device & usage data — strictly necessary sign-in cookies (Clerk), basic technical data (IP, browser/device, server logs), Google Ads conversion measurement, and — on the free ad-supported tier only — Google AdSense advertising cookies (see Advertising below).
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to create and manage your account, provide the core features (projections, AI analysis and Q&A, voice transcription, watchlist, trading bots), process subscriptions, execute trades on your own brokerage account only when you enable the real-money Auto Trader, operate and secure the Service, measure advertising, and comply with our legal obligations.
Service Providers We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted providers to deliver the Service: Clerk (authentication), Square (billing), OpenAI (AI analysis and voice transcription), WeBull (order execution, only if you connect the Auto Trader), Yahoo Finance (public market data; no personal data sent), and Google (ad serving on the free tier via AdSense, plus advertising conversion measurement). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our users and the Service.
Advertising & Your Choices
Stock Smith's free platform is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Ads are shown only to signed-out visitors and to signed-in accounts without an active Ad-Free membership — Ad-Free members do not see ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.
- As a result of ad serving, third parties (including Google) may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, IP addresses, or similar technologies to collect information. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before any advertising cookies are used, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the consent message.
Removing ads entirely is always available with the Ad-Free membership.
Device Permissions
Stock Smith requests only the permissions needed for features you use: the microphone (only for the optional "ask by voice" feature, only while you actively record — never in the background). You can revoke any permission in your browser settings at any time.
Data Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest for sensitive credentials (AES-256 for WeBull keys). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Data Retention
We retain account, watchlist, and subscription information while your account is active. Voice recordings are not retained after transcription. When you delete your account we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we must keep limited records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update your email in account settings, manage or cancel your subscription on the billing page, disconnect your WeBull credentials from the Auto Trader page, and request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing privacy@stocksmith.ai.
Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International Users & Changes to This Policy
Stock Smith is operated from the United States and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. We may update this policy from time to time; we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take additional steps as required by law.
